The Karachi University has begun its admission process for masters and honours programmes for the academic year 2006. Prospective students can obtain and submit admission forms up to October 26, 2005.

Candidates for honours can submit forms up to November 19. Provisional list for the admission in masters would be displayed at the Silver Jubilee gate on November 19. Successful candidates would be informed about the fee structure on the same date.

The university has allotted 1800 seats for masters courses while 2500 seats have gone to honours. It has 8 reserved seats each for Northern Areas, Fata and Azad Kashmir. Seats have also been reserved for the provincial and federal nominees, university employees, handicapped persons and the armed forces.

The university has increased 200 seats for the "S" category of Sindh and "P" category and some other areas. But it will not involve "K" category of Karachi.

The academic council has decided candidates in the "K" category could only be admitted in honours or masters courses if they have passed their SSC, HSC and graduation from Karachi and colleges affiliated with the Karachi University.

The university had reserved 3 percent seats for the institutions that are recognised by the university. "P" and "S" categories would be admitted to unutilised seats of the "K" category.
